About Us
The Gallery at Violet’s Garage features functional and decorative art created by emerging artists in the Greater Orlando area. It also provides opportunities for gallery guests to observe creative and artistic processes. Types of processes include clean art (painting, crafts) as well as dirty (welding, pottery and fiberglass) work.
Affiliate Artist Membership
The Inspiration: The Berkeley Art Studio in ASUC Student Union - Christi Kapp’s mother Linda Genet founded this art studio in 1962 aided by a grant from the Levi Strauss Foundation
The Affiliate Artist Membership level is for artists and hobbyists looking for a place to make things as part of a creative community. The program allows each Artist 24 hour access to the shared studio space to make art when the space is not in use by the Gallery for workshops or other events. Affiliate Artists enjoy 24-hour access to the facilities which include Wi-Fi, a wet studio with 4 easels and a sink, leather bench, 8-harness weaving loom, industrial sewing machine and a dry studio. The space is available for shared use by individuals when not in use by Art Garage events. This is a perfect program for crafters, hobbyists, seasonal residents, and professionals to be in a creative environment. Lockers can be rented if desired. Affiliate Artists also enjoy access to Art Garage events and receive information on exhibition and educational opportunities when available..
Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. To apply, artists must submit an application, digital portfolio, and $25 application fee. We limit the Affiliate program to 25 artists at any time. This program is great for those not quite ready for the Resident Studio Artist program, or those in town for a season or two. We have a limited number of lockers for use by active affiliates. Upon acceptance Affiliate Artist will pay $50 per/month, 6 months at a time. In addition to the $300 for 6 months, they are required to pay the following:
A refundable $100.00 security deposit; refundable at the end of the agreement pending inspection/review.
A non-refundable $50 keycode, IT and maintenance fee per year in the program.
Two-Person Studio Membership
The Art Garage has one 2-3 person 15.5’ x 12’ studio with large door access to provide for movement of large materials in and out of the facility. This membership is $400/month each with a six month membership term payable monthly for two people. In addition
A refundable $100.00 security deposit; refundable at the end of the agreement pending inspection/review.
A non-refundable $50 keycode, IT and maintenance fee per year in the program.
Welding Area Affiliate Membership
The Art Garage has a shared area suitable for welding with large door access to provide for movement of large sculptures in and out of the facility. This membership is $300/month and is limited to two concurrent memberships at this time.
